Blockbuster summer of cricket ahead
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed the home international schedule for both the Men’s and Women’s teams in 2027. The summer is set to feature three Ashes series, with the Men’s five-Test Ashes and the Women’s multi-format Ashes headlining the fixtures. Additionally, the England Men’s Mixed Disability Team will also compete against Australia.
The ICC World Test Championship 2027 Final will be hosted at The Oval from June 9 to June 13. This marks the second time the venue will stage the title decider, following its hosting of the 2023 final. The ECB was awarded the rights to host the next three finals in London in 2027, 2029, and 2031.
Richard Gould, ECB Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the significance of having three England teams playing against Australia across various venues. He noted that the upcoming summer will see the Men’s team play an Ashes Test at the Utilita Bowl for the first time, while the Women’s team will play an Ashes Test at Headingley, also for the first time since 2001.
Men’s and Women’s Ashes campaigns
The England Men’s team will commence their bid to reclaim the Ashes at Trent Bridge on June 18. This follows their previous series in Australia. Subsequent Test matches will take place at Lord’s, Edgbaston, the Rose Bowl, and The Oval, where the series finale is scheduled from July 29.
Before the Ashes, the England Men’s team will open their home season with a five-match One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan, starting on May 15 at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton. They will then host Bangladesh in a one-off Test at Lord’s from May 28 to June 1.
The England Women’s team will launch their multi-format Ashes campaign with a one-off Test at Headingley from June 24. The rivalry will then transition to white-ball cricket, featuring three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) at Trent Bridge, The Oval, and Emirates Old Trafford. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series at the Utilita Bowl, Lord’s, and Edgbaston.
The England Men’s team will conclude their preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 with a white-ball series against New Zealand in September. This series includes three T20Is and five ODIs.
Further international fixtures
The England Women’s team will round off their summer with T20I and ODI series against Bangladesh. The first T20I against Bangladesh is scheduled for September 8 at the cinch County Ground in Northampton.
An agreement has been made between the ECB and Cricket Australia for the Australia Men’s team to play a high-quality warm-up match against a full-strength England Lions team at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground from June 7 to June 10. This match is intended to aid their preparation for the 2027 Rothesay Men’s Ashes Series.
All England Men’s and Women’s matches of the 2027 international summer will be broadcast live.
The ICC World Test Championship Final in 2027 will mark the end of the fourth edition of the championship, with The Oval serving as the venue for the final from June 9 to June 13.
