Ines Garcia, girlfriend of Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal, has taken steps to protect her social media posts following an emotional statement regarding her past relationship. This decision comes after Garcia received numerous messages online.
Garcia addressed claims that she ended a five-year relationship to be with Yamal. She utilized X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a detailed post in response to these allegations. In her statement, Garcia expressed surprise at the attention her personal life had garnered.
She wrote, “I never thought that sharing something so simple would turn into this.” Garcia also mentioned spending hours reviewing comments, acknowledging that despite her attempts to be resilient, she is a person who experiences emotions, makes mistakes, and remains human regardless of her relationship status.
Garcia further elaborated on her perspective regarding public opinion, stating, “I understand that not everyone has to like everyone else. I understand criticism when it’s respectful.” However, she drew a clear distinction between constructive criticism and actions intended to humiliate, insult, or wish harm upon someone unknown to the commenter.
The relationship between Yamal and Garcia gained public attention during the FIFA World Cup 2026. Garcia was seen alongside Yamal and his family after Spain secured the World Cup title by defeating Argentina in the final match.
Following her public statement, Garcia implemented a measure to safeguard her social media presence from negative comments. Her X account now indicates that her posts are protected, meaning only approved followers can view content from @_ineesgaarcia.

Garcia, a 21-year-old beauty influencer, has been a subject of online discussion since her relationship with Yamal became public after the FIFA World Cup semi-final. She found herself at the center of controversy after making her relationship with Yamal official on Instagram.
Several social media influencers created content, including reels, alleging that Garcia had ended a five-year relationship to be with Yamal. One piece of content reportedly included a photo of Garcia with her supposed former boyfriend, accompanied by a comment from a TikTok star that read, “I love you babe.” This photo was reportedly taken at a wedding just three weeks before Garcia began dating Yamal.
Influencers used this timeline to suggest that Garcia, described as a lifestyle vlogger, left her long-term partner for perceived financial benefits and opportunities associated with dating the Spanish footballer. Despite these claims, neither Garcia nor Yamal had publicly responded to the rumors, continuing to display their affection for each other on social media.
Garcia subtly addressed the online commentary through a post on Yamal’s Instagram. The 19-year-old footballer, who was celebrating Spain’s World Cup victory against Argentina, shared a photo of himself holding the FIFA trophy with the caption, “6 am, photo I had lying around.”
In response to Yamal’s post, Garcia commented, “the most handsome in my house.” This comment received significant engagement, accumulating over 40 thousand likes and hundreds of replies from fans. This interaction served as a subtle message amid the ongoing online discussions.
Resurfaced Videos and Past Relationships
Older videos featuring Garcia have also resurfaced on social media, contributing to online debates. One of these clips reportedly shows Garcia discussing Yamal’s previous relationship with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole. In this video, Garcia allegedly suggested that Nicole would not have been interested in the Barcelona and Spain star if he had not been a millionaire and a famous footballer.
Another video that attracted considerable attention involved Garcia and a friend. When asked to choose between “Yamal or Mbappe?”, Garcia’s friend responded with “Jude Bellingham.” Garcia reportedly gave the same immediate response, saying, “Bellingham.” The precise dates and full context of these recordings have not been officially confirmed, and the videos have primarily been shared through social media accounts, suggesting that remarks might be excerpts from longer conversations.
Yamal and Nicki Nicole had officially confirmed their relationship in August 2025. Yamal later announced their separation three months after, clarifying that the breakup was not due to infidelity or the involvement of a third party.
Garcia’s relationship with Yamal became publicly known in May 2026. She accompanied the Spain international during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and attended the final match where Spain defeated Argentina to claim the trophy.
