Shehbaz sharif: PM Launches Housing Program Amid Health Initiatives

On April 30, 2026, PM Shehbaz Sharif launched the “PM Apna Ghar Programme” in Islamabad. This initiative aims to provide housing loans of up to Rs10 million. The program plans to construct 500,000 housing units across the country.

The total allocation for this ambitious housing programme is Rs3.2 trillion. Loans will be returned over 20 years with a 5% markup for the first decade. In the first year, the government aims to fund 50,000 houses with an allocation of Rs321 billion.

Simultaneously, PM Shehbaz emphasized a commitment to children’s health. He pledged zero tolerance for polio and lead exposure threats affecting children. Protecting children’s future remains a top priority, he stated.

Lead exposure poses serious risks to children’s development and health. The government recognizes that eradicating polio continues to be its top priority.

Shehbaz’s administration has partnered with organizations like UNICEF and EIB Global to bolster these efforts. A delegation praised the government’s measures to protect children from deadly diseases.

Officials have not detailed how these initiatives will be implemented together in practice. However, observers expect significant advancements in both housing and public health sectors as the year progresses.
