Maryam Nawaz has launched transformative initiatives in Punjab that aim to revive the local film industry and bolster agricultural support for farmers. She announced the establishment of a 50-acre film city in Lahore, marking a significant step towards revitalizing filmmaking in the region.
The Punjab government has allocated Rs2 billion specifically for the revival of the film sector. Maryam Nawaz stated, “The glory of filmmaking back to Lahore and Punjab.” This investment is expected to attract talent and resources back to the industry.
In addition to her focus on film, Maryam Nawaz has introduced several social protection initiatives for farmers. Over 1.6 million people have benefited from these programs, which include the Kisan Card, designed to provide financial relief.
As part of her agricultural reforms, 21,000 Green Tractors have been delivered to farmers under the Green Tractor Scheme within two years. This is a significant increase compared to previous governments, which collectively distributed around 20,000 tractors since Pakistan’s inception.
The Punjab government plans to distribute land worth approximately Rs160 billion to landless rural residents. This initiative aims to benefit 88,780 families across various districts of Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that “Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan” and highlighted that this initiative will bring about a major transformation in the agricultural sector.
The Dhee Rani program has also seen success, with 5,000 collective marriage ceremonies organized, showcasing the government’s commitment to social welfare.
Officials expect these initiatives will significantly impact both the film industry and agriculture in Punjab. The emphasis remains on enhancing local talent and supporting low-income groups.
