Kick-off events in Berlin and Bermuda

Penny Karageorgi stated, “progress in this space can only succeed through collaboration across businesses, policymakers, academia, and civil society.” This remark came during the #TextileDialogue kick-off in Berlin on May 1, 2026.

The event focused on sustainable textiles and attracted numerous stakeholders committed to environmental initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Eurovision 2026 rehearsals also kicked off on May 1, 2026, in Vienna. Moldova was the first country to rehearse among the 35 competing nations.

In a different part of the world, King Charles began his official visit to Bermuda on a Friday. A 21-gun salute marked his arrival, showcasing the significance of this royal occasion.

During his visit, King Charles planted a cedar tree as part of a local environmental initiative. He also experienced Bermuda’s rich cultural heritage by watching a performance of the island’s Gombey dance tradition.

These events illustrate a blend of sustainability efforts and cultural celebrations happening concurrently across Europe and Bermuda.

As discussions continue about textile sustainability in Berlin, more updates from both events are expected soon.
