Irán war

US President Donald Trump stated that the war with Iran could continue for another two or three weeks, despite asserting that the United States has already won. Control of the Strait of Hormuz has become a central issue in this ongoing conflict.

A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation. However, talks have failed to produce a lasting agreement. As of midday, US military officials maintain that the ceasefire is still in place, even as tensions escalate.

Since the ceasefire, Iran has fired at commercial vessels nine times and seized two container ships. This demonstrates how closing the Strait of Hormuz can serve as an offensive weapon and revenue raiser for Iran.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Iran would face an overwhelming response if it attacked US troops or commercial shipping. General Dan Caine indicated that US forces are ready to resume major combat operations against Iran if ordered.

Trump emphasized, “One way or the other, we win.” He added, “Time is not of the essence for us.” These statements reflect a resolve amid uncertainty regarding the ceasefire’s status.

No adversary should mistake current restraint for a lack of resolve, Caine said. The situation in the Strait continues to impact maritime traffic significantly.
