Key Matches Underway
Day four of Wimbledon 2026 has commenced with several compelling matches across various courts. On Court 1, Katie Swan of Great Britain is facing Madison Keys. Keys, known for her powerful serve and game suited for grass courts, secured an early break against Swan, leading 2-0 in the first set. Keys has previously won four tournaments on grass surfaces.
Meanwhile, on Centre Court, defending champion Iga Swiatek is set to compete against Karolina Pliskova. Swiatek, who has not yet secured a title in 2026, had a challenging first-round match, being pushed to three sets. Pliskova, despite a significant ankle injury in 2024, has accumulated a 19-9 record this season and performed well in her initial match, defeating Tereza Valentova 6-3, 6-4 without losing a service game. Historically, Pliskova has a strong career win rate on grass courts.
Another significant match on Centre Court will feature Matteo Berrettini against Arthur Fils. Both players have faced injury concerns, but possess high potential when healthy. Fils, who missed several major tournaments due to injuries, has shown strong form this year, reaching at least the quarterfinals in multiple events and winning a title in Barcelona. Berrettini also reached the quarterfinals at the French Open this year, though a hip issue ended his run.
British Hopes and Close Contests
British player Arthur Fery is engaged in a tight contest against Otto Virtanen. Fery, who commentators suggest has the potential to break into the top 20, is currently level at one set apiece after winning the second set with a strong performance. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play and is enjoying the London weather.

On Court 12, Liudmila Samsonova is battling Diana Shnaider, the beaten finalist at the French Open. Samsonova initially held a lead but Shnaider has mounted a comeback, breaking back in the second set. The match is currently in a decider after both players secured a set each with a 6-4 scoreline. Samsonova’s coach advised her to incorporate more spin into her shots, but this strategy has not yet yielded consistent results.
Elsewhere, Taylor Fritz is facing Thiago Seyboth Wild. Fritz, who reached last year’s semi-finals, is considered to have a significant opportunity in this tournament. He secured a two-set lead against Kypson, winning 6-2, 6-2. Alex de Minaur is also performing strongly, leading Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-2, 4-2. De Minaur has been candid about his frustrations with not being able to consistently defeat top players in major tournaments.

Additional Matches and Predictions
Other notable matches include Amanda Anisimova, last year’s beaten finalist, taking on former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin. Anisimova, despite a wrist injury earlier in the season, started her campaign with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Kenin, on the other hand, has had a challenging season with limited wins. Predictions suggest Anisimova is a strong favourite in this encounter.
In another match, Jacob Fearnley is playing against Jaume Munar. Fearnley, who is comfortable on grass and has a solid all-court game, is expected to have strong crowd support. Munar’s recent form includes an 8-13 record since the start of 2026 and a 6-17 record in main-draw grass matches throughout his career.
The day’s schedule also features Alexander Zverev, Rafael Jodar, Francis Tiafoe, and Jasmine Paolini. Paolini, whose first-round match was noted as one of the best so far, will face Viktorija Golubic. Golubic has a winning record in nearly 50 career matches on grass and her playing style, which includes good court coverage and shot variation, could pose a challenge for Paolini, who has not won consecutive matches since March.
The matches on Court 1 are scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM BST, with Centre Court action starting at 1:30 PM BST.
