The PM Apna Ghar Programme aims to provide significant housing support to low- and middle-income families across Pakistan. Launched on April 30, 2026, the initiative will offer housing loans up to Rs10 million with easy repayment options.
The scheme plans to construct a total of 500,000 housing units nationwide. A total allocation of Rs3.2 trillion has been set for this ambitious project.
As part of the programme, loans will be repayable over a period of 20 years. The markup on these loans is 5% for the first ten years, after which it will revert to the market rate.
In its first year, the government has set a target to fund 50,000 houses. An amount of Rs321 billion has been earmarked specifically for this initial phase.
The scheme will be implemented across all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. A maximum of 10 marla housing units will be allowed under this initiative.
PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the government’s commitment by stating, “Providing shelter to citizens was a fundamental responsibility of the state.” He also noted that the construction sector plays a vital role in driving economic activity and generating employment.
The PM will personally review the programme’s progress on a monthly basis. This oversight aims to address any shortcomings and ensure timely payments.
Additionally, under the PM Fuel Package 2026, Rs1.2 billion has already been disbursed to over 32,000 beneficiaries.
This programme represents a crucial effort by the government to assist low-income households in achieving home ownership amid rising fuel costs.
