The National Highways and Motorway Police has introduced a cashless payment system for driving license fees in Islamabad, Pakistan. This system aims to digitize the licensing process and improve convenience for applicants.
As of early Tuesday, citizens can pay their driving license fees using digital payment platforms such as Easypaisa, JazzCash, and banking apps. This initiative was inaugurated by Deputy Inspector General Operations Asghar Ali.
The facility is currently available at the Islamabad Driving Licensing Authority. Within hours, Sheikhupura and Quetta are expected to follow suit with similar cashless payment systems.
QR code machines have been activated at the Islamabad center for faster payment processing. This technology is designed to streamline transactions and reduce waiting times.
The new system benefits various groups, including new driving license applicants, professional drivers, public transport drivers, and daily commuters visiting NHMP licensing centers. Digital payments can significantly reduce paperwork and eliminate the need for cash handling.
Moreover, payments are digitally recorded, which simplifies transaction tracking and minimizes manual errors. Applicants should verify cashless payment availability before visiting an NHMP licensing center.
It is advisable for applicants to keep digital payment confirmations or screenshots until their licensing process is completed. The shift towards a cashless system reflects a broader move towards digitizing Pakistan’s licensing processes.
As one official noted, “Driving license processing should not feel like a full-day mission.” The convenience of applying with less paperwork and paying without standing in bank queues represents real progress.
This transition indicates that paperless licenses plus digital fee payments point to one thing: licensing is finally moving in the right direction.
