Phil Foden has agreed in principle to a new four-year contract with Manchester City until 2030. This comes as he struggles for a starting position amid a challenging period in his career.

Foden’s current contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027. His last Premier League start occurred on March 4, 2024, against Nottingham Forest.

On March 3, 2024, Manchester City drew 3-3 with Everton. Jeremy Doku scored a stoppage-time equalizer to salvage a point for the team.

As of midday, Manchester City is five points adrift of leaders Arsenal with one game in hand. Pep Guardiola stated that the Premier League title race is no longer in their hands, saying, “It’s now not in our hands; before it was, now no.”

The team recently won the League Cup in March 2024 and will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 16, 2024. They have four remaining games in the Premier League.

Erling Haaland commented on their situation, asserting, “We’re still in it,” while Doku reflected on the draw against Everton: “It’s painful now, but there’s still a lot of games to go, and anything can happen.”

Next up, Manchester City will play Brentford in the Premier League. The outcome of this match could significantly impact their title aspirations.
