Isha Ambani attended Vogue’s Met Gala pre-party in New York City on May 1, 2026. Her dress celebrates India’s diverse artisan heritage through its intricate design.
The custom creation by Manish Malhotra, developed in collaboration with Swadesh, features 26 distinct borders. Each border represents a different region of India.
The ensemble took over 450 hours to create, showcasing various Indian textile techniques. These include zari work, Parsi gara embroidery, and Kanjeevaram silk.
The theme for the Met Gala pre-party was ‘Costume Art.’ Isha’s look was styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania.
Manish Malhotra stated, “Every border carries its own language of craft—from zari work and gara to Kanjeevaram and Banarasi—coming together as one continuous narrative.” This highlights the craftsmanship involved.
As of midday May 1, the upcoming Met Gala is set for May 4, 2026. Isha’s appearance has generated significant interest in celebrity fashion.
