Nepal lodged a protest against India over a border dispute regarding the Lipulekh Pass. This protest comes as OPPO launched its new smartphone series in India.
The Lipulekh Pass is claimed by Nepal based on the 1816 Treaty of Sugauli. India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that Lipulekh has been used for pilgrimage since 1954. Approximately 500 Hindu pilgrims travel through Uttarakhand to reach Kailash Manasarovar, which includes Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, “The territories of Limpiadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani are part of Nepal, a position on which the government remains clear and firm.” India’s officials responded, stating, “This is not a new development.”
As of midday, gold prices in India rose significantly, with the price for gold at 13,969.95 INR per gram. This increase may impact consumer spending amid the ongoing tensions.
The OPPO F33 Series was launched on April 15, 2026. It includes models like the OPPO F33 Pro 5G and OPPO F33 5G. The OPPO F33 Pro features a 50MP Ultra-Wide Selfie Camera and boasts a 7000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charging.
Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, stated, “The F Series has earned its reputation as India’s Durable Champion.” He added that users should not have to choose between durability and camera quality.
Observers expect both countries to continue discussions regarding the border issue while monitoring consumer reactions to the new smartphone series.
