Hezbollah’s healthcare system exploited for military operations

Hezbollah’s healthcare system is reportedly being used as a cover for military operations in Lebanon. This development raises concerns about the blurring of civilian and military roles.

As of early March, Hezbollah has returned to fighting Israel in southern Lebanon after a ceasefire. The group has indicated it will not accept one-sided ceasefires, escalating tensions.

Analysts suggest that Hezbollah’s health organizations operate under the Islamic Health Organization, which serves as a crucial part of its structure. Reports indicate that this integration allows the group to conduct military activities while maintaining a facade of humanitarian assistance.

Since early March 2026, Israeli attacks have killed over 2,600 people and displaced more than 1.2 million residents. The Lebanese government has banned Hezbollah’s military activity, but the group continues to assert its influence.

A key player in this situation is Iran, Hezbollah’s main benefactor. Analysts believe Iran will not abandon Hezbollah amid ongoing conflicts.

The negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are ongoing, with the U.S. acting as a broker. However, Hezbollah has expressed full opposition to these negotiations.

In addition to the humanitarian crisis, reports indicate that at least 100 medical personnel have died during the conflict, alongside 116 ambulances damaged. The situation remains dire for both civilians and combatants.

The outcome of these negotiations is still uncertain, especially regarding Hezbollah’s future role and its ties to Iran and the U.S.
