The UAE has lifted all flight restrictions imposed during the US-Israel war on Iran, marking a significant recovery milestone for Etihad Airways and the broader aviation sector.
As of early Tuesday, Etihad Airways resumed operations from Abu Dhabi after suspending all departures during the conflict.
The UAE’s airspace had been temporarily closed due to retaliatory strikes from Iran, which affected multiple airlines.
Currently, Etihad operates at approximately 75 percent of its pre-war capacity. In comparison, Emirates has restored around 80 percent of its capacity.
Key statistics:
- 1.4 million passengers handled during partial resumption of air traffic
- 7,839 air traffic movements recorded
- 44.6 percent of normal levels for national carriers
This recovery comes alongside notable sustainability initiatives. The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix recently set a Guinness World Record.
The event generated 60.75 cubic meters of drinking water in just 24 hours using an atmospheric water generation system.
This technology helped avoid over 600,000 half-litre single-use plastic bottles during race week.
Saif Rashid Al Noaimi stated, “At Ethara, we are committed to embedding sustainability into everything we do.” Meanwhile, officials have not confirmed if any additional measures will be taken regarding future air traffic operations.
The full implications of these developments on UAE aviation are still unfolding as the industry adapts to the new operational landscape.
