The Desert Vipers recently played against the Lahore Qalandars in the third match of the Global Super League 2026, also held at the Providence Stadium. In that encounter, the Lahore Qalandars secured a 38-run victory. Usama Mir was a key performer for the Lahore Qalandars, taking three wickets to help restrict the Desert Vipers‘ batting lineup.
Lahore Qalandars’ Recent Performance
The Lahore Qalandars, after being asked to bat first, posted a total of 176-4 in their 20 overs. This strong total was largely due to an unbeaten 83-run partnership between Parvez Hossain Emon and Michael Bracewell. The pair came together when the team was in a challenging position at 93-4 after 13.1 overs, and their collaboration helped propel the Qalandars to a competitive score.
Earlier in their innings, opening batters Shayan Jahangir and Shamyl Hussain established a 37-run stand over five overs. However, Yousaf was dismissed after scoring 22 runs. It was at this point that captain Bracewell joined Emon, and together they absorbed the pressure. Bracewell remained unbeaten with 46 runs off 23 balls, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. Emon also stayed not out, scoring 47 runs from 33 balls, including three sixes and three fours. For the Desert Vipers, Khary Pierre claimed two wickets.
Desert Vipers’ Batting Struggles
In their chase of 177, the Desert Vipers found it difficult to build momentum against the disciplined bowling attack of the Lahore Qalandars. They were ultimately restricted to 138-9 in their 20 overs. Usama Mir was particularly effective, taking three crucial wickets that dismantled the middle order of the Vipers. The batting lineup of the Desert Vipers struggled under pressure, with wickets falling consistently throughout their innings.
Despite some individual contributions, the Desert Vipers were unable to maintain the required run rate and fell short by 38 runs. This defeat highlighted areas for the Desert Vipers to address, particularly their batting concerns, as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures in the tournament.
